Restoration of the
ceilings:
The ceilings are complete in
gold leaf 24k. Mixed in with different colors of gold for the contrast. The
technique is named, Polymentvergulding, one of the oldest techniques in the
world. It was used by the Egyptian people in the Pyramids. And maybe one
of the most complicated techniques build up in different layers.
1. The complete piece has been
painted with a mix of: mountain chalk mixed with distilled water and rabbit
glue, found between the skin of a rabbit. Apply on a temperature of 38
degrees Celsius. Put on in 6 coats.
2. After you use a mixture of
polyment: is a pipe earth with metal oxides inside, for the shine of the
gold. Then mixed with distilled water and gelatin. You apply 6 coats after
drying from the first one at a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius.
3. After drying the piece, the
piece is rubbed with a cloth and given a certain shine. Then a mix a
distilled water and pure alcohol and use a brush to put it on the piece,
and directly apply the gold leaf. After approximately 18 minutes, the gold
will polished with agaat stone to a high shine ( a mirror shine effect). |
